The latest i-Series models offer three key functionalities for diagnosis, prevention, and system restoration to maintain analytical robustness.

Prevention

To safeguard against column deterioration from sudden pressure spikes, it’s essential to gradually increase the mobile phase flow rate as the column temperature rises. The FlowPilot flow rate control feature seamlessly synchronizes with the column oven temperature, providing optimal protection against abrupt pressure changes during automatic equilibration.

Diagnosis

During the pump's flow path check, it identifies any malfunctions in the check valves, while the autosampler's flow path check detects contamination and blockages in the injection system. Additionally, UV and PDA wavelength checks assess detector lamp performance prior to analysis, guaranteeing that the entire system is in peak condition before starting any analytical procedures.

Recovery

Pump pulse detection and the Auto Recovery function effectively manage air bubbles that can disrupt flow and impact chromatograms. The system continuously monitors the pressure curve, automatically pausing the run if significant fluctuations are detected. It then initiates a corrective purge and re-equilibration before restarting the batch from a defined position. This intelligent process helps eliminate data loss due to air bubbles and pressure fluctuations, ensuring reliable results during long sequences.

Column Management

Maintaining a comprehensive record of column usage history is essential for high data reliability, and the intelligent Column Management Platform (iCMP)* offers an integrated solution for tracking this information. By enhancing usability and data integrity, the iCMP allows users to easily monitor column performance and make informed decisions about their analytical processes.

The auto-validation function enables users to easily verify instrument condition through a standardized procedure. It automatically checks essential performance metrics, including solvent delivery stability, wavelength and absorbance accuracy, gradient precision, and signal drift or noise. Additionally, the built-in instrument check conducts routine pre-run inspections and generates a detailed report featuring self-diagnostic results and consumables usage, tracking solvent volume delivered, total injections by the autosampler, and lamp operating hours. All auto-validation results are centrally managed, allowing for quick and accurate assessments of instrument status.
